In 1986 Akira Yamanouchi graduated from the School of Engineering Science of Osaka University and in the same year he joined Marubeni Corporation. In the same corporation, he engaged in development of domestic and overseas real estate and management of developed real estate. In 2003, he was appointed as representative director of the asset management company of Nippon Residential Investment Corporation (NRIC, currently Advance Residence Investment Corporation) which was the first residential REIT in Japan. He led the listing of NRIC in 2004 and structured and managed the portfolio of 139 rental housing properties with 9,344 units in total and total acquisition price of 303.5 billion yen by 2008. In 2010 he became a president and representative director of Daiwa Real Estate Asset Management Co., Ltd. and engages in the management of the office REIT Daiwa Office Investment Corporation and private funds, etc.

Daiwa Office Investment Corporation (DOI) was established on July 11, 2005, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on October 19, 2005 and changed its sponsor from K.K. daVinci Holdings to Daiwa Securities Group Inc. on July 1, 2009. DOI is a REIT specializing in investment in office buildings, focused on the Five Central Wards of Tokyo (Chiyoda, Chuo, Minato, Shinjuku and Shibuya Wards).
